Even if you thought you knew a whole lot about coffee machines, buying one for yourself might cause quite a bit of confusion because of the vast range of coffee machines available in the market. There are so many out there, different brands, different designs for various types of coffee and also the problem in deciding between the standard coffee machine, the semi automatic, the automatic, super automatic and so on that it would feel more like selecting a space machine than one to simply brew your coffee at home.

So how do you actually know what you want? Do you even know that there is a difference between the Filter coffee machines and the Espresso machines or even which are better? Sure, they both produce coffee but look at the difference between the quality of the coffee produced by these machines and you will understand. Your standard filter coffee machine has a reservoir for water, a filter and a carafe while an espresso machine is far more complex and consists of a device that drives the steam into the pot. It also has a metal filter and better filtering system to produce a richer and stronger cup of coffee than that produced by the filter machine, which is somewhat weak and diluted.

Now let’s take a look at the types of coffee these two machines are used for. A filter coffee machine is used for any type of ground coffee that is widely available in the market and in fact is the most commonly used coffee by most people who are not particularly mindful of the quality of the coffee they drink. An automatic espresso machine on the other hand uses espresso ground coffee which is much stronger and produces a rich potent quality brew. Let’s not forget the difference in price as well. Both varieties of machines come in different price ranges from the cheap to the costly. Even so, an expensive filter coffee machine can still be cheaper than an averagely priced espresso machine which is another way of proving that the latter machine is much better quality vice, than the filter type machine.

This however does not mean that the filter machine is of no use. For those who like their coffee weak and want to have their craving satisfied easily, this machine would do fine; especially when you consider the price. If you however are a connoisseur of quality coffee and are particular about your favorite drink, then of course you will not even consider a filter machine and would much prefer the quality brew produced by an espresso coffee machine.

Ultimately it comes to a personal choice and the amount that one can spend on a particular machine. If someone really likes the coffee found in retails stores and prefer the weaker drink, he should go for the filter coffee machine even if can afford to spend for a more expensive espresso machine; simply because the stronger richer brew produced by the latter type will not be to his liking. Therefore, it’s left to the individual to select the machine of his personal choice; be it the filter coffee machine or the espresso machine.
